COURSE DESCRIPTION
This theory course provides an overview over current themes, notions and concepts in Landscape Architecture. The disruption of disciplinary boundaries between philosophy, art, landscape, architecture, engineering, and ecology has forced each one to redefine its own terms and field of operations. The course consists of weekly lectures, assigned readings, seminar discussions, and three exercises during the semester.
The semester is subdivided in three parts. Part one is a very short and summarized introduction to the Historical foundation of the discipline, (we suppose that most students have already had courses on this topic in their past studies, if not extra readings can be offered to the students that need to endeep the historical theme). The second Part is on contemporary landscape Architecture notions, and the last part is on the role of the designers in participatory public space actions.
